Antique Victorian Gold Filled Art / Calligraphy Kit
4 Piece W/ Retractable Pencil & Knife
Mother Of Pearl Knives
Up for consideration tonight is a Rare & Unique set of which is either an Art or Calligraphy Kit.
They are in Very Good Condition with one of the Gold Filled? pieces being a Mechanical Pencil and the other being a retractable Diamond Shaped Knife.
The Gold (Filled but is not marked as such) is in Very Good Condition with minimal wear to them. The Sharp Diamond Knife has some spots of wear to the case as it was probably used the most and being held a lot it has some small areas of wear on the raised rib design.
The Pencil has a tiny spot of wear underneath the Bale or Jump Ring Cap.
The Cases are a Raised Ribbed Design and both also have Rings Attached at the tops for possibly being attached to a Chatelaine Brooch.
The other 2 Piecs being Beautifully Cut and Crafted Mother Of Pearl Knives. The one sided edged Knife has a Beautifully Colorful Abalone Handle and on one side has a Dotted Star design cut into the blade. It may be the makers signature or have something to do with spreading ink.
The other Mother Of Pearl Knife has a Great Carved in one piece Handle that is Ribbed and the Blade is so Realistic it is Raised in the Center on both sides of the blade. There is a tiny spot of rough edge on one side of this Double Edged Blade.
Awesome Craftsmanship to say in the least.
The Black Leather Case is Awesome with is Deep Burgundy Red Velvet & Stain Interior.Three of the Satin Slots have come apart due to age and the side walls satin covered construction of the box has some repairable bending and a little wear to the satin. The Box Closes and stays Closed well. (Please see all photos) The Black Leather Case' Cover has some expected Minimal Wear as to its age. The Corners of the Leather Case's Top & Bottom have some wear to the leather and there are some other little boo boos on one side of both the bottom and top.
There is a Decorative Rimmed Edge on the Top as well as the Sides of the Case that at one time may have been colored or there alone for extra Definition.
Really a Beautifully Hand Crafted Antique & Probably a One Of A Kind piece.
