The website writers continued with some history: "The Impala was not only an important model for Chevrolet but it also has historical significance for America. Many experts credit it for the inspiration behind muscle cars. In a time of simplicity and exclusivity, Chevy Impala dared to stray from the old standards. It set the benchmark for a perfect blend of not just performance and comfort, but value too. Fun fact: Impala was originally intended to be a high-end Bel Air. However, it was not long before the luxurious family sedan became too successful for being just a trim. It soon broke free from Bel Air and became a stand-alone model in 1959. Offered here in black over burgundy is a beautifully preserved and respectfully upgraded '67 Chevy Impala 2-door hardtop with the highly desirable 327/4-speed manual combination. The car's condition, inside and out, top to bottom displays show-quality excellence.
The condition of the Impala's exterior raven-black paint is accurately described as showroom-quality. The elegant, uninterrupted slope of the model's distinctive roof is especially appealing in black. Across the entire body, the paint is smooth, uniformly glossy, and the shine is deep. There is no hint of any damage on the body panels. The model's characteristically tasteful chrome trim is all in excellent condition, from the front bumper and grille to the rear panel, including the bespoke body-side trim and the delicate window and wheel-well surrounds. Emblems and badging-including the script "Impala" on the rear quarter-panels, the script "Chevrolet" on the rear deck, and the "327" twin-flags identification on the front fenders-are in place and mounted in their respective factory locations. Lighting lenses are perfectly clear and un-cracked. The car has been lowered and, together with the chrome, 5-spoke aftermarket wheels and Toyo performance tires, the look is period-correct street-performance.
The burgundy-themed interior has been well-maintained over the car's half-century-plus life. A sport-style steering wheel with wood-look rim, crossed-flags center emblem, and brushed-metal trim frames a comprehensive analog instrument cluster arrayed in a driver-oriented design beneath a burgundy dash. Slide-lever controls for heating and air conditioning and a push-button AM radio are located to the right. Handsome brushed-metal trim at the base of the dash extends across in front of the driver. The shifter for the 4-speed manual transmission is floor-mounted and topped with a chrome shift knob. The glove-box door, when opened, shows three indents, a then-new feature to "support" drink cups (apparently at the drive-in when the car was not in motion), the forerunner of today's cupholders. The original seat upholstery has been superbly maintained; the factory combination of fabric panels with vinyl surrounds and delicate metal trim is still impressive today. The rear bench seat includes the Impala emblem in the top-center. Door trim matches the seat upholstery (the right-hand top portion of the door trim shows patina arising from passenger arms understandably resting there). Door-mounted controls for the power windows share space with smaller crank-handles for the vent window. Cabin floors are covered in burgundy carpeting which has been maintained to the same standard as the rest of the interior. Rubber mats in burgundy are in place front and back. The car's trunk is impeccably clean and stock.
Under the hood, the performance-oriented, 327 cubic-inch, 275-horsepower Chevy V8 wears the proper-color engine-block paint. Enhancements include the chrome air-cleaner cover, and finned, "Chevrolet" script valve covers. The dual-chamber brake master cylinder is polished. In all, the engine bay is factory-correct and extremely clean. All components, including air conditioning, are properly installed. Viewed from below, the chassis is free of damage. The properly routed, full-length, dual exhaust system with crossover pipe steals the show.
