Description

Wonderful, 1933, GMC Tractor / Trailer Chicago World’s Fair Century of Progress Greyhound Touring Tram / Bus, Cast Iron Toy manufactured by Arcade with very well preserved, original surface paint. This early, cast iron Toy measures 11 1/2” long overall by 2 1/4" tall and 2 1/4" wide.
This classic Chicago World's Fair Toy features a separate Tractor front in blue paint and an elongated Trailer (in white paint with blue highlights and decals) with open sides of the style that was used at the Fair to transport visitors around the grounds and for sightseeing. The trailer features 100% original blue and white paint and retains the original, pressed steel bench seats. The exterior of the "trailer" features cast images of greyhound dogs on the side and original lettering on the roof that reads ""A Century of Progress / Chicago - 1933 / Greyhound Lines" as well as "GMC".
This outstanding, Arcade Cast Iron, Greyhound Bus Lines, GMC Tractor / Trailer Toy is in very good condition. All cast iron parts are original and there are no crack, breaks, chips, repairs or physical damage to the cast iron. The paint is 100% original and the surface has never been restored, repainted, touched up or altered in any way. The Toy retains approx 90% of its original surface paint (see the scans below). The rooftop lettering is exceptionally well preserved (again see the scans below). Four of the six white rubber wheels are older replacements. Overall the Toy is exceptionally well preserved and displays beautifully.
